For those under Mt Sinai contract: you may request up to 4 Personal Days per Academic Year (these are known as Wellness Days in other programs).

For those under NYCHHC contract: you may request up to 2 Personal Days per Academic Year

Personal Days should be requested when schedule requests are made (no later than 8 - 10 weeks in advance).

Personal Days can be requested for any reason, and no reason needs to be given. You are encouraged to use these for self-care things, e.g. a scheduled doctor visit or a family event.

Personal Days may not be requested after the schedule is published, with discretion from the chief residents.

Personal Days may not be requested for night shifts, Sinai wards, or during Jeopardy.

Only one Personal Day per year may be requested for Wards, MICU, CCU, TR, RR or ED. These cannot fall on the day before or after a holiday.

All personal day requests are at the discretion of the chief residents.
